I’m 26. I’ve been building software for the last five years, while working in big tech. My failures and mistakes have taught me valuable lessons about: • Building a team • Executing a mission • Turning an idea into reality It’s all been leading up to now:
My latest TikTok has a 20% view-to-like ratio but it’s been capped at ~780 views. It even includes a direct CTA to download my app. I’m not sure if it’s lack of engagement in comments or a posting minimum which is stopping the video being shown to more people
Day 37 of building a 6-figure IOS app: • I found out people couldn’t find the app on the App Store so I’ve begun the process to change the name • I’ve also started to evolve the design. I want to build a product people are passionate about and want to share with others
actually, life is beautiful and I have time
Day 36 of building a 6-figure IOS app: • Quick 2k views on TikTok posted this afternoon. I used Capcut to edit it myself and it hits on a global trend. • Lower like and app download rate compared to previous videos. • Created and started warming up second account.
Day 35 of building a 6-figure IOS app: - Fixed issue with paywall not redirecting after purchase (big one!) - Bought a Capcut subscription and crafted some (hopefully) viral TikToks
Day 34 of building a 6-figure IOS app: I spent the day revising my marketing strategy. No actual posting.
Day 33 of building a 6-figure IOS app: I spent today improving the UI/UX of the app. It's a lot easier and fun to polish the app now that I've got it in production and working already. Back to marketing tomorrow.
Day 32 of building a 6-figure IOS app: Same actions as yesterday. On the marketing grind.
Day 31 of building a 6-figure IOS app: New day, new TikTok video. Still warming up the account. I’m struggling to find time to film content that involves my app, but I’ll make it happen soon. I guess marketing’s a long game. Need to make some improvements to my MVP also…
Day 30 of building a 6-figure IOS app: 4 TikTok videos, ~5k views 344 likes total, 133 likes 45 bookmarks on latest video. Still ROOKIE numbers but it's warming up the account nicely. About to post another video
Day 29 of building a 6-figure IOS app: Warming up my TikTok account by consistently posting and interacting. I got my third download. The user completed the onboarding then exited at the paywall. Going to film some original content soon
Day 28 of building a 6-figure IOS app: Posted another TikTok video. In just over one day I have 2.5k combined views and 146 likes. I feel like it’s up to the algorithm to make my content reach exponentially more people or not. Continued learning about mobile app marketing.
Day 27 of building a 6-figure IOS app: Posted my first two TikTok videos. Reached >1k on the first and ~250 on the second so far. The second has a view-to-like ratio >10% but reach has slowed. Neither are product focused.
Day 25 & 26 of building a 6-figure IOS app: 25; resubmitted new version to apple. 26; working on my marketing strategy.
Day ~24 (I skipped a few days 🤫) of building a 6-figure IOS app: App Store has approved my app for distribution 🥳 Time to start marketing!
After only 10 days of building in public, Here are my stats! 🎉🎉🎉 Highlights 2.3K impressions (+282%) 228 Engagements (+174%) 79 Likes (+276%) 100 followers 🎉🎉🎉 This community is filled with so many interesting people. I can’t wait for what’s to come.
Day 23 of building a 6-figure IOS app: • Worked on a bunch of speed optimisations to improve UX Whenever you build a product it’s really important to start with core functionality and go from there It’s ugly but it’s 80-90% of the work to get users their desired outcome
Day 22 of building a 6-figure IOS app: • Found a new preprocessing model that’s faster and cheaper • Still need to work out how to get it to output what I need Only had ~1 hr to build today
Day 21 of building a 6-figure IOS app: • Got free credits from a leading AI GPU and inference platform (don’t be afraid to enquire!) • I have chosen a replicate model that will allows users >3X requests for the same $. If I self host in the future this could be much more
Day 20 of building a 6-figure IOS app: I spent the whole day researching the AI inference & GPU server landscape There are so many interesting companies! But everything comes with trade offs between usage, speed and cost 😭 This will take at least another day to finish…
