To me, Wikipedia and Reddit are the two biggest individuals success of the internet and they both rely on volunteers to enforce community guidelines. I don't think that's a coincidence.
Wikipedia didn’t have to exist. It exists because of the hard work of millions of volunteers who like making the world better. I am so grateful to those people, both for the resource, and for reminding me of how weird and good humanity can be.
It’s ok we don’t have to agree on everything, and we can still have other stuff in common. Like how I don’t like the violence of colonialism or pretending to be destined by god to hoard generational riches from colonialism and enslavement, but I do love corgis! ❤️
UPDATE June 3: Only about 22% of Ontario actually voted for Doug Ford, 59% of those that voted DID NOT vote for him and only about 43% of Ontario voted at all. This is our un-democratic First Past the Post system @FairVoteCanada
38% voter turnout. Tomorrow when the Greenbelt is demolished, when our healthcare capacity crashes, when our children’s education is deprioritized & support systems removed, when disparities between communities widen - don’t complain, because this is exactly what you wanted.
No matter what horse you had in this race a 33% voter turnout means Ontario lost tonight. Every teacher, student, essential & front line worker lost tonight. Democracy lost tonight. Acountability & leadership lost tonight. Caring lost tonight.
I know I’ve tweeted/said this before but I’ll say it again… As a society we would all be better off if we changed our mindset from the Western ways of “I have rights” and moved towards how many Indigenous cultures view it as “I have obligations.” /1
I consider it a failure of the Ontario elementary/secondary french curriculum that I never learned the word "saperlipopette". Remedied today by @CMFrancoise

Just want to remind folks that fighting fascism and the far-right isn't only about the imminent threat and the here and now but also about organizing towards building and working towards a long-term future and world that prioritizes equity, human dignity and justice for everyone.
It IS a thing! ❤️🧀
Has anyone else in Brussels been invited by the French ambassador for digital affairs Henri Verdier and Wikimedia to go "take professional images of European cheeses to improve their coverage on Wikipedia" during a "Wikicheese event"? Is this really a thing?!
A must-read 👇
Hey everyone ICYMI the capital city of Canada's downtown is being occupied by white supremacist fascists under the guise of anti-vaccine protocols. I wrote about the signs that should've been taken seriously that weren't. It's free to read for today hilltimes.com/2022/02/09/tho…

The podcaster is just the latest to demonstrate there's always a market for misogyny and racism in America.
