Great news for Canadian Veterinarians #vetmed #vettwitter
Access to the antiviral GS-441524 revolutionized our treatment of FIP (feline infectious peritonitis) in cats. But we had to go through the Emergency Drug Release process and get the drug from the UK...adding time that some cats didn't have 1/2 wormsandgermsblog.com/2024/11/articl…

New US dog importation rules. Logical and reasonable, but changes to rules for dogs coming from low risk countries like Canada are bound to catch some people off guard. wormsandgermsblog.com/2024/05/articl…

Foxes, dogs, cats, seals, goats, cows... (and probably lions and tigers and bears, oh my?). We'd be pretty arrogant (and unwise) to think that H5N1 avian flu is going continue to be a nothingburger for humans. cidrap.umn.edu/avian-influenz…

I'll merge two topics-of-the-week...concerns about respiratory disease in dogs and World AMR Awareness Week (#WAAW2023) with some thoughts about treatment approaches to these cases. Mystery dog respiratory disease (or not) and antibiotics (or not) wormsandgermsblog.com/2023/11/articl…
Something for SA vets to be aware of. Worth reading Dr. Weese’s comments and links. Lots more research needs to come but a potentially transmissible FIP would be a significant change #vetmed #vettwitter
More details about the Cyprus FIP (feline infectious peritonitis) outbreak in a preprint. Still pretty unclear epi since there was limited investigation so it's hard to say how much disease there really was. Genomics work is interesting and concerning, though. 1/n
Most vet neurologists have experienced this and it is good to get an idea of the actual percentages. Maybe we as humans stop trying to breed these dogs the way that they are? #vettwitter #vetmed

Might want to reread Leviticus 19:18.
One of our ER docs rounded a case as “stabley-unstable” which I think sums up the profession and many of us in it quiet well too #vettwitter
Did an interview about vaccine hesitancy. I love that the stand out quote they went with is "If you get rabies, you will die." 🤣☠️ #VeterinaryMedicine vancouver.citynews.ca/2023/08/31/pet…
