When the world, not just the wealthy countries, is fully vaccinated, the danger of mutations potentially even worse and vaccine resistant diminishes. Until then, yes, we are an island nation, and can lock the world out to protect our most precious & vulnerable; our children.

Covid is not inevitable. China has shown that massive countries with land borders can use lockdowns and quarantine facilities to contain the pandemic. We don't have to "learn to live with" hundreds of thousands of preventable deaths, we need effective state responses.
