It’s been only 20 years so far, we’ve come a long way

20 years ago, iTunes 4.9 was released with a podcast directory and playback functionality, establishing a home for podcasting. Thank you for two decades of listening and creating–and here’s to many more. 💜🎙️#ApplePodcasts20 apple.co/Podcasts20

This is a nice touch in iOS 18 Podcasts. Scrub with your finger and the chapters are demarcated along the track, and the chapter title is shown in a call-out.

A great deep dive into the experience of Apple Podcasts Transcripts by the talented folks @lickability

🧵🎙️ Yesterday, Apple released the transcripts feature for Apple Podcasts. This reminded us to revisit the UI of the Podcasts app, and we’d love to share some of our findings. We’re just focusing on the player since there’s a ton to cover.

Apple Podcasts Transcripts are beautiful, searchable, and the background color changes via chapters! Plus, you can add a speaker-labeled transcript, like from @RiversidedotFM through your host, like @TransistorFM I used “The Other Guy” for the last Primary Technology episode 😏

Have you ever done a dense grid search over neural network hyperparameters? Like a *really dense* grid search? It looks like this (!!). Blueish colors correspond to hyperparameters for which training converges, redish colors to hyperparameters for which training diverges.

Thrilled to finally share what we’ve been working on, podcast transcripts! For me, having the ability to search the audio and play from anywhere has been a game changer. The team has done some amazing work here, excited for you all to try it!

Transcripts for @ApplePodcasts! A major accomplishment by many & the fruition of @baileyspace @annewootton's long time ambitions. It's not just strong work; it's true progress. I'm actually really excited about this ;^) podcasters.apple.com/support/5316-t…

In my latest for my Forbes column, I wrote about how big it is that Apple Podcasts —by far the most popular podcast app on the iPhone etc—is getting transcripts come iOS 17.4. It makes podcasts more inclusive of Deaf and H/H people especially. forbes.com/sites/stevenaq…

Really nice implementation of auto-transcripts in iOS 17.4 Podcasts; it even uses chapter markers as section headings!

"R Plus Seven" by @0PN came out 10 years ago this week. By far one of the strangest album covers I've made and one that's taken on a weird life of it's own. Here's a thread with some backstory to how it came to be.
