Learned more than expected about TrueType with all its kerning and hinting internals. Appreciate the amount of work one has to put into basic functioning font. The fact that TrueType runs a virtual machine with procedures and conditionals is fascinating.

For a first stress test of the general vector graphics capabilities in Slug 4.0, I tried rendering the most complicated figure in FGED2. Slug fills a 4K screen with it in 2.25 ms on a GeForce 1060. This is fully dynamic and resolution independent with no texture backing.
I stumbled into this sculpture the other day. Either this artists is also a @shadertoy user, has a close friend that is, or just inadvertently created what will become a place of cult for all the lovers of raymarching if I ever revealed the location of the piece.
I'd tell you all about the time I had an awful bug from overflowing a 64bit int, but it's a long long story;

tut.fi/vga/publicatio… excellent Siggraph ToG 2019 paper: advances state of the art in path tracing denoising (better results than NNs!), just good old simple linear regression + TAA combined with lots of smart, hard engineering, problem understanding, and optimizations :)
Very cool, elegant and effective.
I am excited to share our paper "Handheld Multi-frame Super-resolution" that got accepted to Siggraph 2019: sites.google.com/view/handheld-… Our algorithm achieves state of the art results in multi-frame Bayer raw image fusion and runs at interactive rates on a mobile device.
I saw this video of Boston Dynamics' testing facility 5 days ago and I'm still thinking about it.
