I've been @OVPN_official user and fan for years. Excellent service and features. The best feature is ad blocking. Was recently suckered into trying @Quad9DNS . That service did something to prevent my #VPN from blocking ads.
I'm adopting qownnotes.org Does anyone have advice for me? Just thinking outside that @code isn't that best note taking app. @QOwnNotes so far I'm loving it.
Can we truly measure software quality?Metrics like cyclomatic complexity, code coverage, defect density, and maintainability exist, but none perfectly capture “how good” code is. Can we develop universal, reliable measures of code readability, maintainability, and cognitive load?
How do we reduce cognitive load for developers? Reading and understanding code takes more time than writing it. Can we design languages, tooling, and practices that enhance human comprehension rather than just machine execution?
What is the ethical responsibility of software engineers? Code affects billions of lives—from algorithms that recommend news to systems that decide loans or parole. Where does responsibility lie: with the individual developer, the team, or the corporation?
Will programming languages disappear? Some imagine a future where we describe intent in natural language or diagrams, and machines compile that into perfect code. If so, what does it mean to “be” a software engineer when the act of programming itself changes?

As an aging software engineer, I'm intrigued by LLMs. I think I'll be able to retire in a few years before AI is at the point where software engineering is transformed into some as ubiquitous as a Google search. It's going to be an interesting transformation.
