Hi @bbccomedy. We need to talk about the new @Dawn_French “comedy” series that implies that infection control is a joke. This is a serious issue, particularly for Clinically Vulnerable people who remain at increased risk, and we are not laughing. 1/

AirFanta 3Pro and replacement filters are available in Canada now. You can order it on air-fanta.com instead of Amazon. That will help me to avoid some cost. Thank you.

Two countries. Two charts. A very similar (and concerning) trend. ………….. Can you think of anything that happened in 2020 which is still affecting huge swathes of people on an ongoing basis and which may help explain this worrying trend? /1

Would it surprise you to learn that illness absence is ALSO 40% higher in teachers compared to the pre-pandemic average? Are the teachers also truanting and suffering from “terrifyingly high levels of school avoidance”? Or could it be that there’s just a lot more illness…?

This feels like an important breakthrough moment… On the BBC News this evening, Medical Editor @BBCFergusWalsh clearly stated: “As for facemasks, simple surgical masks are *not* good at stopping viruses. You really need a properly fitted tight respirator mask for that”… /1

It’s fantastic to see the @MayorofLondon pressing forward with action on clean air in our children’s classrooms. But our children’s right to breathe clean air in school should NOT be a postcode lottery. We need the govt to take urgent action at a NATIONAL level. /17

21. Ultimately, we need Govt, public health, and public opinion to cause a paradigm shift where we start taking infectious diseases seriously. Why do we tolerate "winter pressures" EVERY YEAR?! They are predictable AND preventable. The investment would more than pay for itself...

So, to those who say "masks don't work", cite the flawed Cochrane report, insist upon an unfeasible RCT, accuse folks of panic, and undermine public health on social and mainstream media during a flu/RSV epidemic... 1. Seasonal viruses may be "normal", but they do immense harm.

6. Masks are key NPIs, all the more critical due to lack of clean air. 7. Respecting the impact of infection on fellow human beings and awareness of NHS capacity is not "panic". 8. Awareness that millions of vulnerable folks don't have reasonable adjustments is also not "panic".

What is the evidence for the method of transmission of flu? Is there any evidence that droplet or fomite transmission are significant or is it covid all over again and it's essentially just airborne? @_CatintheHat @SGriffin_Lab @cv_cev @drseanmullen @ukhadds

Sorry, can I get this right... Kemi Badenoch was traumatised by something that dentists, factory workers, painters, metalworkers, lab techs and forensics wear every day of their working lives, and she thinks she should lead a country?

Kemi Badenoch has rejected mask-wearing to curb flu, saying she is “still traumatised” by “all the mask-wearing” during Covid. You know what's more traumatising than wearing a mask? Having your family members die because politicians played culture wars with their lives. 1/2

COVID INQUIRY 🚨CATA has issued an open letter to Baroness Hallett warning that key Module 1 recommendations are being disregarded. Of particular concern is the NHS stance that any attempt to halt the spread of a new pandemic virus would be “a waste of public health resources”.
