TIL how to vectorize my handwriting. Now I have to learn how to fontize.
I tried to renew my renter's insurance online. A dozen sites later: broken form fields, broken aggregators, failed submissions, required phone calls. They all felt like scams. ChatGPT suggested @Lemonade_Inc and it was painless. Delightful, even. Everyone else: Do as they do!
My fourth and final 100% run of Monster's Expedition took 3h45m -- 45m better than my goal, using my own solves. All told, I've spent about 210 hours on this game. Very fun! The last of my six unique solves unlocks the viking snowman in a circuitous way: youtube.com/watch?v=8FW3Op…

Monster's Expedition - Viking Snowman, Sneakily
Last night I completed Monster's Expedition 100% in one go in about 6 hours, which was my third round (1st 172h, 2nd 27h). My study of others' solutions so far shows that I've unlocked at least 6 snowmen in unexpected ways. Here are two more: youtube.com/watch?v=9VVfPY…

Why does @discord use websockets only for receiving events? e.g. a bot can receive a message from a channel on a websocket but must send one via HTTP POST. They are both real-time events, no? Even if not, isn't that strictly less efficient? Architecturally, it seems very weird.

122/ The biggest mistake in learning is memorization. When living life you want to have a deep understanding of what you're doing and why you're doing it and how it works, from first-principles.
58/ We have a myth about education and careers. We view adults as people that can't re-educate themselves. We view schools as places where you train for a job that lasts your entire career. All of that is false and outdated.
As a frontend engineer, I appreciate the new @Twitter in two ways: 1. New tweets prepend upward yet do not shift the viewport. 2. Only 10 tweets in the DOM at once, no matter how many pages loaded. Total # elements stays below 2K. Expert viewport juggling. Very snappy! 👏

Six years ago, I bought a 65" 1080p 3D plasma TV for over $3,000. Today, I sold it for $300. Technology sure depreciates quickly!
My MacBook was overheating for years. I only noticed when visiting the office (away from my iMac). Too many external monitors? External drive? Bad sandbox setup? Nope: It was SUPER DIRTY inside. Caked fans. Opened, air-canned: Zero problems now. Wow. Don't forget about meatspace!
