Nobody believed this great man when he said "one day I will live in the house on the back of the penny."

We say "the suburbs are a great place to raise kids," but I would much rather raise my kids in a city that is accessible, diverse, and lively, where they can independently access and contribute to the community. Here's a great thread explaining the benefits.

I'm a parent with 3 kids under 5. I want them to grow up in a neighborhood designed with them in mind. I recently learned of a concept called "the 15-minute city". A city where everyone should have access to essential urban services within a 15-minute walk or bike. /1

One of the greatest climate technologies that we have yet to truly deploy is "allowing everyone to live <3 miles from work, <1 mile from a big park, and <0.5 miles from the grocery store."

There's just an incredible amount of inertia inhibiting progress on the stone cold fact that we are not getting out of the climate crisis without significantly reducing vehicle miles traveled.

"Adding housing supply helps make housing more affordable" is a true statement that has been supported time and time again by the research. And yet often people just say: "Nuh-uh! I don't believe it!" Who to believe? The homeowner's hunch or the Professor's life's work?

There's just an incredible amount of inertia inhibiting progress on the stone cold fact that we are not getting out of the climate crisis without significantly reducing vehicle miles traveled.

Here's a great point: when you legalize apartment buildings instead of banning them on 75% of city land, the apartment buildings that get built end up being smaller, more stylized buildings with units that are larger, more diverse, and more affordable.

REMINDER: if one in ten American households raised a 1/2 acre garden and kept 35 free-range Neil Youngs, there would be no need for Spotify in the first place (level one)

There's a certain kind of ridiculous pizza place that is impossible to defend with dignity: "Have you even TRIED their french fry pizza? Their ants-on-a-log pizza? Their half sandwich and cup of soup pizza?"

USA current day: "There is nothing we can do! We just have a car culture." France 10 years ago: "Zere is nussing we can do! We just 'ave a car culture." France today:

From curbing flights to taxing SUVs, France has enacted some of the most creative and climate-friendly transportation policies in the world. An appreciative 🧵:
