In the early 90s my lovely friend Mark would write to me and do a little drawing on the envelope. This is my favourite. It feels like every week is ‘National Anti-Peace Week’

Brum had a Mission Impossible, a Kingsman and a Spielberg movie shot here but no mention in this article bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

Anyone visiting Brum should say hello to Thomas Attwood

I say hello to this guy every time I play at Birmingham Town Hall. Just having a 5 minute break from soundcheck.. and came for a quick chat with him

In Cotteridge the photography shop has become a bar+photography shop. Take that Stirchley. ‘Picture + Pint’.

The Brummie has landed #Fozia #TheTraitors

I love that with the snow being general all over Ireland right now it has given lots of people the chance to quote from my favourite ending to anything ever of all time.

“Yes, the newspapers were right: snow was general all over Ireland. His soul swooned slowly as he heard the snow falling faintly through the universe and faintly falling, like the descent of their last end, upon all the living and the dead” #NollaignamBan #Epiphany

Surely there’s a supercut of all the Freddie hotel room inserts out there by now #TheTraitors

Always hoped that the “individual lodgings” on #thetraitors are a nearby Premier Inn.

Great to see Christmas trees already out for recycling at my nearby park. That’s the spirit!

There’s a bird in @sainsburys Selly Oak. Waiting patiently to pounce on an open cornflakes box.

It’s got no shops in it anymore but I’d love to see Needless Alley in Birmingham City Centre have its own Christmas light display. Would join a ‘Friends of Needless Alley’ group in a heartbeat.

Not seen this film since release (though listened to the soundtrack lots since). At the time I thought the subversive bit was that you would expect Byrne to be subversive and he wasn’t. Fun film but runs out of steam well before the end.

What's disappointing about TRUE STORIES is that Byrne's unconventionality is purely aesthetic...His view has no thrust, no subversion. It's as innocent as something made out of paper dolls. (1986)

Lovely to see this research project by my colleague get some media coverage.

My local high street (Cotteridge in Brum) defiantly resisting gentrification by having the local drinkers fight each other outside Greggs over a stolen lottery scratch card (presumably a winning one, I didn’t ask).

Sad to hear about Teri Garr’s passing. Loved seeing one of her best performances on the big screen again earlier this year.

Thoroughly enjoyed watching Scorsese’s After Hours again on the big screen tonight. Teri Garr, Rosanna Arquette and Catherine O’Hara steal the film. Great reissue and thanks to @mac_birmingham for screening it.

I see the Birmingham Frankfurt Christmas market has gathered at Smithfields, ready to pounce.
