The difference between Kafka 4.0 and 3.0 will be awesome: - No ZooKeeper - Tiered Storage - New Rebalance Protocol (848) - EOS support in Connect - State Updater Thread in Streams - Improved Txn Protocol (890) - Custom Stream Task Assignment (924) #apachekafka is on a roll!

Our #ApacheKafka streaming infrastructure served 29 million messages per second at peak. That’s 45% growth from 2022 – and we did it more efficiently this year with 14% fewer brokers.

The new end-to-end encryption feature is cool. Basically annotate sensitive fields in the schema registry and have the clients automatically encrypt those fields with customer-managed keys. Confluent cannot ever access that data.
