in case you lost track of Russia for the last week or so...

In last week or so: *Russia armored vehicle deliberately crashes into US vehicle in Syria injuring 7 US. *Russian submarine surfaces off Alaska. *Russian jets cross 100 ft in front of B-52 . *Russian SU-27 follows B52 into Danish airspace violation airspace of NATO nation.

This is state sanctioned robbery

I just paid a $6.95 “convenience fee” to add money to an inmate’s county jail commissary account. $2.70 for a coke, $17 for a PILLOW; poor families that can’t afford bail have to pay for small conveniences for their loved ones. Bail is bad

Jesus Mary and Joseph ... that's unholy. One at a time wasn't good enough for someone?

I need a ruling from my Philly/Jersey crew... but I'm pretty disgusted.

that's a hell of a photo

This is going to be a slide in B-school lectures about picking the right metric to track for like 50 years.

DeJoy blames delays on a disconnect between production at postal delivery/sorting centers and his edict that trucks leave on time. He proudly showed a chart showing 97% on-time trucks vs. 80-something percent before the edict. But if the mail didn't make it on the truck...

Seeing a lot discussion about the movie 'The Postman' lately. Quite a bit better than the movie, the book by @DavidBrin is well worth the time

watching an old Atlanta @ Tampa matchup on PlutoTV and I'm still puzzled by Josh Freeman. He went from competent starting QB to non-entity amazingly fast

and hopefully that's the end of it. The services need a re-education campaign when even flag officers are bungling this

Statement from DOD on the troops appearing with American Samoa delegates at #DNCConvention: "All members of the Armed Forces ... are prohibited from wearing military uniforms at political campaign or election events." No further details on the troops involved here.

going through some photos tonight and realized I never did get very good at moon rise shots. This one from 2011 isn't bad...

This is quite a read... a multi-front attack on testing (and a reminder that the actual virus name is SARS-CoV-2) theatlantic.com/health/archive…

would be nice if something close to this happened and there isn't a snowballs chance in hell it does

1/ Covid (@UCSF) Chronicles, Day 150 Today, 150 days since I began my Covid tweets, I’m going to do something odd: write the speech that Trump should give. I have no faith he’ll do so, but it’s worth recognizing how little it would take to change course & save lives. Here goes:

45% of the tests were positive

🚨The situation at Mesa Verde is awful. ICE deliberately blocked widespread COVID tests because it would cause "housing issues." A judge ordered them to give everyone a test. 45% of test so far were positive—and some of the people GEO said refused testing were asleep when asked!
