Two weeks ago I published a post about a functional modeling approach to event sourcing. This week I'd like to dig deeper into an example implementation in Kotlin. dev.to/jakub_zalas/fu… #functionalprogramming #eventsourcing #kotlin #arrowkt #ddd #dddesign

SaaS has reigned supreme for long enough. The Church of Recurring Revenue is due a reformation. It’s time for more choices in web software that you buy ONCE and run yourself. Starting late 2023, you’ll see such products available from @37signals. once.com
20 years ago today, still true, and still needs to be said.
10 years ago today I wrote that we cannot measure productivity. Still true and still needs to be said. martinfowler.com/bliki/CannotMe…
In a healthy tbd team of around 6 engineers, could easily have 20 commits to main per day. Imagine instead, 20 PRs raised per day. lmao. This is why the short-lived thing never pans out in practice, you batch things up to save context switching, and then you've lost CI.
#ChatGPT just wrote this test with me after a handful of bits of instruction. It felt like pairing with an extremely competent software developer who just was unfamiliar with a couple particular bits of some APIs. Remote interviews will be *very* interesting going forward 😂
I am having an unreasonable amount of fun seeing how you can have a far more reasonable time making interactive websites with #golang and @htmx_org . No NodeJS, SPA hell, just rendering fragments of HTML on the server and HTMX makes the composition and interactions a breeze
A @cucumberbdd / @BehatPHP anti pattern is when a step definition has to do too much _stuff_ It indicates that the API or interface it's interacting with is not aligned with the underlying business actions
For every example of Bad Tailwind™ I could find and provide 10 examples of bad CSS/SASS that are actually worse. The problems that Bad Tailwind provides are FAR less impactful to productivity than bad CSS.
I've seen several "DDD with Laravel" articles/books now that have nothing to do with DDD and include no references to original source material either. I don't think we should accept this. If anything, invent your own approach to development and give it a nice *new* name.
#NewInPhpStorm Support for multiline and nested array shapes. Did you know that this syntax is also supported by @psalmphp and @phpstan?
I just rebuilt Apple Music on iOS using React and Framer Motion. This app is a treasure trove of tiny, beautiful details and I wanted to break down everything I noticed along the way. Let's get started!
Random #docker tip (with a #php example): If you want to run something with a binary, but you don't want it in the image, you can mount it in from another image at build time
