Exaggeration of Covid threat = overblown use of SIP / lockdowns = more deaths / poorer outcomes mainly with low income & vulnerable + more QE / low interest rates = wealth inequality increases. Fear has taken over and will hurt low income the most.
“The fact that a large share of the population overestimates the COVID-19 danger to the young will make a targeted public health response more difficult to agree on ... it is also likely to delay the recovery, causing a deeper and prolonged recession.” franklintempletonnordic.com/investor/artic…
.@karpathy's interview on @dwarkesh_sp's podcast was excellent, and I highly recommend watching it—it raised many of the key issues currently being debated in AI. I’ve been developing a framework at Amazon to clarify what I believe works well with the current state of AI…
Dead on. In fact one of the “new” segments I keep looking out for is professional services for SMBs. It may just be that this unserved segment (mainly due to fixed costs of hiring individuals) can finally be served well and profitably.
Product Cycles > Financial Cycles...and one way to build around the AI Product Cycle: going "greenfield" Below is a chart of the Nasdaq vs the biggest product cycles of the past 45 years: PC, Internet, Cloud, Mobile, and now AI. Each had an infrastructure layer and an…
We are not going to be doing the same with less but in fact we will do a lot more with more. Putting it in more concrete terms, we are not going to become multi planetary without automating many mundane tasks and focusing mankind on the next set of creative challenges.
4/ Which is why the “AI will take all the jobs” narrative rings somewhat hollow based on what I’m seeing. Where AI Applications are really working is where suddenly value > cost. It’s replacing inertia — a world where cost > value for a seemingly infinite group of things.
Principles over tribalism. No better exemplar of it than @JeninYounesEsq
Finally listened to @DrJBhattacharya's interview. We are all so lucky to have him as a leader in this moment. Listen to the whole thing, but especially the last 10 mins. So much respect for this man. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/hon…
Great interview by @NicoPerrino Our country was founded on "certain unalienable rights." I happen to think free speech is one of them. Amen! Principles over tribalism. Great to see @mtaibbi, @JeninYounesEsq et al sticking by principles.
Today, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the administration will rely on an obscure clause of the Immigration and Nationality Act to deport Mahmoud Khalil. The clause allows the Secretary of State to deport someone if their presence in the country is “adversarial…

Excellent post summarizing where things are globally. A must-read. My addendum to Liberty Energy’s policy document: “Making energy more expensive or unreliable makes it harder for the poorest to get out of poverty”.
President Donald Trump is going to upend the current narrative on climate change and energy. I see too many professionals in the areas of energy, environment, sustainability and finance not accept this reality. They should. yogesh-upadhyaya.medium.com/the-narratives…
Oh man, @22wiggins really making this hard. What a champ!

Thanks for all the memories, Wiggs! We'll miss you here.
Steve Kerr on Andrew Wiggins: “Just had a baby boy last week. Girls in school. Wiggs is one of my favorite players I’ve ever coached. Just a wonderful soul. We don’t hang that banner in ‘22 without him…I’m gonna miss him.”
Great article @arampell

Wow, incredible and succinct analysis. A must watch.
Democrats have succeeded when looking to the future. Somewhere, they lost that sensibility. What happened? My take:
