That’s a wrap! I completed the Reforge Growth Series Program! #reforgefall2022 program.reforge.com/snapshots/fz6d…
Case #'s in SF worsening. A number I follow is @UCSFHospitals case-pos. rate in asymptomatic pts (ie, pts getting cardiac cath or surgery). Was 0.4% last mth; now 2.1%. So person near you at party or store has 1-in-47 chance of having Covid, even if feeling fine. Be careful (1/3)
Since I started working @CodeCombat, we've been revamping our coding adventure game Ozaria by making it more engaging and comprehensive. Now, we get to feature Ozaria with our brand new website design!! You can play the first chapter for free :) ozaria.com
San Francisco, along with other Bay Area counties, is opting in to the Governor's regional Stay at Home Order effective Sunday at 10pm. We're on pace to run out of hospital beds to care for patients the day after Christmas. We must turn this around now.

1/ Covid (@UCSF) Chronicles, Day 259 The vaccine news remains astoundingly positive. Reacting to my upbeat mood, a reporter asked me if there’s anything that keeps me up at night. Aside from the cataclysmic current state of Covid (likely to get worse, I fear), there are a few:
1/ Covid (@UCSF) Chronicles, Day 252 Lots going on – I’ll try to go a bit beyond the headlines. Let’s start with a brief Public Service Announcement, then the Covid situation in SF, vaccine distribution, a little on schools, and then a crazy case of pharmaceutical serendipity.
Ya, this was me too, so archaic
Windows 3.11 via a dozen floppy disks...and oh no disk 7 was a little dodgy! Thankfully Windows 95 came on CDs. 😂
"This is the story that convinced me not to go to family Thanksgiving," @juruwolfe told me. So if you need that -- of if someone you know does -- here's my feel-bad story of the season. fivethirtyeight.com/features/why-e…
I feel like I'm hearing this a lot, so I'm going to try to explain why it doesn't work to get tested Tuesday or Wednesday before Thanksgiving and then be good to go for Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday. Don't use that test to decide you're safe!
@CodeCombat ‘s Ozaria is featured on @codeorg’s hour of code activities page! We spent a lot of time iterating and incorporating educator feedback to make it engaging for kids. Go check it out :) hourofcode.com/us/learn
Please share with friends and family in Georgia: If you voted absentee in Georgia, please check the status of your ballot now. If it was rejected, you have until 5pm on Friday, November 6, to fix it and make sure your vote counts. democrats.org/ga-ballot/
This is soooo good – great graphics that vividly illustrate the risks of indoor transmission. Highlights the important role of ALL the interventions for indoor events: wearing masks, more distance, less time in space, fewer people, better ventilation, quiet>speaking>shouting.
The graphics in this article are excellent— this is a huge part of communications that has been missing. If you want to understand how layered interventions reduce #covid19 spread— why masks are indispensable but not always “enough” — read this. english.elpais.com/society/2020-1…
Covid (@UCSF) Chronicles, Day 224 1/ When I walk or drive around SF, I see evidence of why Covid cases & deaths are the lowest of any big city in the U.S. Masking is near universal, Ubers & Lyfts have their windows wide open, & there are pop-up outdoor eating spaces everywhere.
We are hiring again at @ModeAnalytics. Engineering, data science, and several other roles. You have to work with me, but don't let that stop you from applying. 😉 If we are connected in here, DM me so I can refer you. mode.com/careers/
San Francisco has one of the highest rates of testing of any city in the country, but recently the increase in demand has made it harder for people to book appointments. This can't continue. Here's what we're doing to make sure that people who need a test can get a test:
On April 11th we had 94 people hospitalized with COVID-19. By mid-June we were down to as low as 26 people. We’re now back to 80 people in the hospital. This virus is here and it's spreading. We must act right now to stop it. What has changed? People are gathering again.
Unfortunately the increase in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations in SF, and large spikes throughout CA and the country, have made it so our public health experts feel it is not safe to move forward with the reopenings that were scheduled for next Monday, including indoor dining.
Any company that uses BIG-IP products sold by F5 Networks had a rude interruption to their weekend, as a critical vulnerability turned July 4 into a race to implement a fix. Those who haven't done so yet may now have a much larger problem on their hands. wired.trib.al/cEeTSuv
1/ Covid (@UCSF) Chronicles, Day 104 Let’s talk California. Until recently, our state managed to do so well that our experience has been dubbed The California Miracle. But let’s say it clearly: The Miracle is over. The sooner we acknowledge that, the better off we’ll be.
