Communities have the answers to public service reform. Amazing work going on in Wigan, West Yorkshire, Harlesden, Manchester & so many other places! We ignore the power of communities & we miss so many opportunities to learn from those closest to the people we all try to support.

A Facebook post falsely claims Serco has been instructed to “secure all” empty rental properties across the UK to house “illegal immigrants”. Serco only manages asylum accommodation in certain areas of the UK and says it does not use empty homes. buff.ly/4fMoN51

I used to be pretty ‘Bah Humbug’ about Halloween but think I might softening. Tonight I saw a human-sized T-Rex walking down Rustlings Road and it brought me such happiness. 🦖😊

Sister Rosetta Tharpe is credited as the Godmother of Rock ‘N’ Roll. Before Elvis, Johnny Cash or Little Richard, there was Sister Tharpe- A Black woman who forged her own sound in a male dominated industry. She does not get the credit she deserves. —Sister Rosetta Tharpe…

Brilliant from @ProfDonnaHall & what Sheff’s H&WBB agreed to continue supporting in the form of @CompassionSheff prog, helping communities support each other to have better experiences at end of life. Particular thanks to funding partners @felly500 @EmmaLatimer3 @StLukes_Sheff

What’s the solution to the public service crisis? A better approach to service planning? A tighter budget? Integration Boards? Nope 👎 Being more efficient at managing decline won’t work. We need Radical Place Leadership, start with a person not a service mutualventures.co.uk/post/radical-p…

One of those days when I’m reminded I have the best job in the world! What an absolute privilege to meet Glenys and Janet and all the other volunteers giving so much to their communities.

So pleased that our volunteers Glenys & Janet won the New Initiatives Award at today's Community Champions event, for all their efforts on our Dementia Music Group! All the volunteers at the event were inspirational in how they promote health & wellbeing in the community.👏

Courageous people trying to do good by speaking truth to power in dysfunctional organisations & systems are often vilified, marginalised, pushed out. They are usually advocates for the citizen. Imagine if they were set loose on system reform & leaders saying “we have your back”

I love it when this does the rounds, I can’t watch it too many times. Can’t decide if it says more about George Harrison or Prince. Having never heard of Dhani Harrison I’m gonna assume he’s the young one that looks just like … erm … his dad?

Prince, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, Steve Winwood & Dhani Harrison pay tribute to George Harrison at the 2004 Induction Ceremony performing ''While My Guitar Gently Weeps". What a performance, what a magical vocal by Jeff Lynne and what a guitar solo by Prince. Truly a masterpiece.

It only takes 1 person in a system to stand up & say “This is wrong let’s stop” or “We’re managing decline let’s reform”. But it takes courage in a controlling culture. Finding another brave person & standing together is the start of a rebel alliance; creating impetus for change.

Forced to acknowledge values-based parenting went awry somewhere along the way. No3 off to uni to learn about politics and then change the world, feels unable to do it without 3 pairs of DMs. Shoes, boots, black, white, platform & standard soles - all main bases covered - phew!

- cancer champions?

If only we had a high value health and care system. 10-20% of our NHS spend (£180billion plus per annum) is waste. That’s quite a lot of money that could be spent elsewhere…public health, prevention, social care, sure start etc etc @pash22 @sfinnikin @felly500 @muirgray
