Swedish. Tree-rings and paleoclimate. Sometimes the uncertainty estimates are more interesting than the narrative. I rarely do twitter or any social media.
Our new paper on Common Era agroclimate in central Europe is now out in JCLIM. Very grateful to have had the chance to work with such beautiful records: journals.ametsoc.org/view/journals/…
Our new paper linking past (2000 years) and future climatic conditions for agriculture in central Europe is now out @theAGU Geophysical Research Letters: agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1029/20…
New paper on the future growth of trees in European spruce and pine forests, now out in GCB: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/gc…
We have a new paper out in @RelayJFR, looking at the impact multiple comparisons can have on correlation significance when studying tree rings and daily climate data: link.springer.com/article/10.100…
Our new paper "Late Ming Dynasty weak monsoon induced a harmonized megadrought across north-to-south China”in Communications Earth & Environment nature.com/articles/s4324…
'Yellow Band' (~7700 m) on Mt Everest (8848 m asl) 20th of May What an achievement! 🙃 Pulling yourself up on ropes fixed by sherpas and polluting all the floors of this mountain Magic is gone, even imaginary world has been destroyed! F**** circus! 🤡 R. Dwivedi (@EverestToday)
The summer of 2023 was the warmest in the Northern Hemisphere extra-tropical regions in the past 2,000 years, according to a study published in @Nature. go.nature.com/4aASD9L
New study in @NatureWaterJnl showing how mountains interact with #ElNino effect in the Intermountain West Max Torbenson @encephalization , Kay Sung, Daniel Kingston @danielgkingston and Ben Phillips @OhioState @ByrdPolar nature.com/articles/s4422… news.osu.edu/how-mountains-…
New study with @encephalization on the Morava River. Baseflow separation providing stronger reconstruction target byrd.osu.edu/news/escalatin… sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
New: "Central European Agroclimate over the Past 2000 Years", Journal of Climate 36, 13 (2023): 4429-4441, doi: doi.org/10.1175/JCLI-D… #JClimate 1/3
I am very happy to be a co-author on Ian Howard's new paper on California heavy precipitation in recent centuries. It seems very topical too: journals.ametsoc.org/view/journals/… (with @mdettinger and others)
New paper: we were inspired by previous work from @encephalization and reconstructed baseflow using tree rings for the Santee River in SC, USA. We found certain species were more sensitive to baseflow like Baldcypress allowing for a 1000+ year record. agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.10…
Very cool application of the VS model to assess how precipitation intensity and seasonality affects tree growth in North America, by @WiseClimate & @MPDannenberg : agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1029/20…
Büntgen et al. on realised and potential treeline fluctuations over the past 2000 years. Simulations indicate that the gap is growing: sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
New article on the mid-6th century cooling from a wood anatomical perspective, now in press with Science Bulletin: sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
Pre‐instrumental perspectives on Arkansas River cross‐watershed flow variability. JAWRA. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/17…
We have a new paper (open access) out in JAWRA on pre-instrumental variability of Arkansas River flow: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.11…
Spruce sampling at the northern edge of its range. And a forced dip in Torneå after a day in the woods.
We have a new paper out in QI on age trends of tree-ring stable isotopes in Fennoscandian pines: sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
