Great showing by the FHS XC teams at a hot and humid Coleman Midgett Invite. The boy's JV led the way with a third-place team finish. Nils Hurst (BV), Mary Beth McKnight (GV), Gavin Mitchell (BJV), and Jack Willits (BJV) all earned top 10 finishes. @wcsFHSsports

How do you know God loves you? Don’t stare inward, into the abyss. Turn to Jesus, which is to say, turn to Him as He offers Himself at His table. It’s visible, in front of you every Lord’s day. You can taste the bread and smell the wine. It's the table of Jesus, the table of…

The best that can be said of any ordinary Christian is not that he has attained to this or that height of sanctity, but that he is becoming, through discipline, more and more one with the will of God. -F.P. Hatton, The Elements of the Spirit Life #commonplace

Let me know Thee, O Lord, who knows me: let me know Thee, as I am know. Power of my soul, enter into it, and fit it for Thee.. this is my hope. - St. Augustine #commonplace

TRUE!!!

One of the things I love about being a priest is that my priesthood is grounded in my call to the diaconate. I don’t ever “graduate” from being a deacon of the church. Nor does my service = “only cool stuff.” Boring, menial service is what defines and secures my priestly work.

This series is great! And I bet this will one of the best!!! #liturgicalendar #Christmas

This is a good word! We heard something in-line with this at Good Shepherd Nashville this last Sunday!

In my role as a pastor, I’m not trying to get everyone to agree on everything so much as I’m attempting to create environments where our disagreements don’t automatically become cause for disunity.

It’s so easy to be discipled by an angry culture that we deceive ourselves in thinking it’s a fruit of the Spirit.

Ash Wednesday is not a day to manufacture guilt. It’s a day to recognize our brokenness, frailty, and trust in God’s love. It’s a day to freely come before God and declare, “I am human, I am dust, and I am loved.” #AshWednesday

One of the first things to learn if you want to be a contemplative is how to mind your own business. Nothing is more suspicious, in a person who seems holy, than an impatient desire to reform other people. - Thomas Merton

I used to argue with others who didn’t believe women could preach and pastor. So much energy wasted. Nowadays, I just train and provide opportunities for women to preach in our congregation. And when they do, hearts are changed, Jesus is glorified and the church is edified.

I dropped a long anticipated episode of the #intersectionpodcast w/my friend @wdavidotaylor where we talk about the Holy Spirit and the Psalms! I loved this conversation!!! Check it out. Link in my bio!
