Miami only backed Harris by 1% in 2024 Higgins won it by 19% last night That is pretty notable
Once again, the City of Miami is not a strong Republican city. It actually leans blue. Don't confuse Miami the city with Miami-Dade County
Eileen Higgins has won the Miami Mayoral Election by 19 points! Harris won by just 1% last year. Higgins won across the city, only losing in the most heavily Cuban areas on the west end of the city, but even there Gonzalez did not have massive margins A solid win! #flapol
In last Tuesday’s TN-07 special election, Democrats made their greatest gains in the city of Nashville, which had been carved up in redistricting. Although this part of Nashville shifted nearly 20 points to the left, it was not enough to power Aftyn Behn to victory.
On Tuesday, Republican Matt Van Epps won the TN-07 special election by just under 9 points, a double-digit underperformance of President Trump's performance last year. Here's a map emphasizing the role developed precincts played in fuelling Democrat Aftyn Behn's overperformance:
🗳️ FINAL RESULTS: Seattle Mayoral Election 🗳️ Katie Wilson defeated incumbent Mayor Bruce Harrell to become the next Mayor of Seattle. A Seattle Mayor was last reelected in 2005 and 2025 continues this now decades long streak. #waelex #Seattle
On Nov 4, former Rep. Abigail Spanberger was elected governor of Virginia over Lt. Gov Winsome Earle-Sears. Spanberger will be the first woman to serve in this role. Her decisive win was the result of a meticulous and long-sought campaign that outclassed a vain Republican effort.
The last time a presidential election in New York City was competitive was in 1972, when George McGovern only won the city by three points amid Nixon's landslide victory nationwide.
The 1988 presidential election saw George Bush Sr. deliver a landslide victory against MA gov. Michael Dukakis—but not in his home state, where he eked out an 8 point win. This is the first time this election has been mapped in detail. Lots more maps/analysis below! 1/a lot
Zohran Mamdani has cemented DSA power in New York City, securing a majority and winning more votes for mayor than anyone since John Lindsay in 1965. Like Lindsay, he faced split opposition in a contest with shifting party bases and interests, perhaps a sign of times to come.
In 1964, Virginia chose President Lyndon Johnson over Senator Barry Goldwater. Virginia's newly enfranchised Black population enabled Johnson's victory. Conversely, many White Virginians, especially in Southside, dramatically switched their allegiance to the Republican Party.
The Bronx's Hudson and Sound coasts are much whiter and more suburban in nature than the rest of the dense, majority-minority borough. Politically, their similarities stop there — the west's blue Riverdale blends in while the eastern coast has the reddest parts of the borough.
The 1998 Senate Election in Pennsylvania saw incumbent GOP Senator Arlen Specter win reelection in a landslide. Specter was pro-choice and endorsed by the AFL-CIO. His Democratic opponent was pro-life, and, as shown by the map, virtually unknown outside of Somerset County.
Though Dan Osborn came up short in his independent senate bid against Nebraska incumbent Deb Fischer, he performed well enough to carry the state's 1st CD. His strength in the district came from Lincoln and suburban Omaha, allowing him to clinch a 1 pt. victory.
Susan Collins carried Maine's 1st District in all of her Senate races until 2020, even winning it in 2008 against the district's Congressman Tom Allen.
Zohran Mamdani brought the heat on Tuesday, and torched Andrew Cuomo's bid to come back from disgrace. He's likely to become the next mayor of New York City thanks to fervent support from progressive hotbeds in Brooklyn and Queens blazing through the city's geographic center.
The 2025 New Jersey Gubernatorial Primary in New Jersey's 9th District, an exemplar of Newark Mayor Baraka's consolidation among Minorities, Congresswoman Sherrill's consolidation among suburbanites,

Here's a glimpse into the 1968 election in Virginia! Humphrey was popular in the Hampton Roads region, unlike the rest of Virginia. Black voters propelled Humphrey, while rural whites were nearly unanimous for Wallace. Nixon received support from wealthy suburbs.
With the mayoral election fast approaching, let's look at one of the most interesting seats in the city: Queens' AD-23. Last year, the sprawling seat voted for Trump by 14% but re-elected Asm. @Stacey23AD (D) by 3% due to several areas of varying ticket splitting 🧵
The 1912 Presidential Election in Idaho resulted in Democrat Woodrow Wilson winning the state’s four electoral votes over incumbent President Taft. Wilson’s 32.08% is the lowest vote share any presidential candidate has won a state with in US history.
