Paranoia is a mental illness and “it’s probably going to be ok” is a healthy worldview.

I have a custom TLS/HTTPS client that I expect is vulnerable to something, but I don't pay enough attention to TLS to know exactly what. Is there an HTTPS server that I can query, which would test the client and give me some leads on which problems might be exploitable?

You can get some crazy speedups from hand written assembly (esp on archs like x86 with complicated vector & matrix instrs) BUT you also get good speed ups by telling the compiler you have a modern processor. IDK what gcc’s default is these days but in the P4 days it was 586…

When there was just one RedHat…

Look, I'm slackware old

Looking for recs for burning PCBs as an art project - I used a butane torch but it’s a little uncontrollable what burns and sometimes it delams…I can use a soldering iron but it takes a long time…

My spoooky story of the week: learned about quiet NaNs” in IEEE754 (which is spooky enough!). They are the ghosts of floating point…even if you have all FP exceptions enabled, if a std lib function or an instr generates one they propagate through subseq instructions. Eerie!👻#️⃣

Ok I can sort of make a path towards understanding why we wanted to teach sand how to think, but I’m not sure I can ever figure out the ROI on why we decided to teach it how to lie

You can improve your security situation through education.

What’s your cybersecurity take that’s got you like this? I’m heading out but when I’m back I’ll drop some of my own in the comments.

I used Lynx a lot in high school bc my rig was a SPARC ELC running RH 5.1 and we had AT&T WorldNet that did a proprietary version of PPP so I usually dialed into my school’s modem bank w minicom, telnet to the Linux server, lynx out to the web.

Lynx started at the University of Kansas in 1992 and it's the oldest web browser still being maintained.
