Honoured to be elected to the Board of @HumanistsInt by delegates from around the world. At a time of rising authoritarianism + religious nationalism, I’m proud to stand for reason, compassion & human dignity on the global stage.

Today, we remember the 17 killed at Dunblane 29 years ago and stand with those forever touched by loss. We should never forget and reaffirm the commitments made afterwards to compassion, peace and building a kinder society.
US VP @JDVance today on 🏴 buffer zone law. Completely misrepresenting the facts, with the aim of interfering with law that was democratically passed in our parliament This is a man that has previously said that he wants a national abortion ban in the 🇺🇸 Fact-check in thread 👇
This is scaremongering. You won't be arrested just for praying in your home. You might be if you use your house or garden to harass women outside about abortion. Please watch @rachaelfrclarke clarify this as part of her oral evidence to the @ScotParl Health Committee in Feb 👇

Blasphemy laws are never justifiable. Blasphemy laws run contrary to human rights, encourage inter-community grievances, and are correlated with religious violence around the world. Such laws should remain in the history books, never to return. humanists.uk/2024/12/03/gov…
Don't get fooled. Operation Christmas Child is a scheme to evangelise vulnerable children. We're urging parents and schools to swap their support over to ethical schemes which don't exploit the generosity of parents. humanists.uk/2023/11/16/hum…
"The precedent set by Kim Leadbeater’s bill is really important. Now, Scotland will not be making this step on its own, but in unison with two other nations of the UK." What does the UK vote for #AssistedDying mean for Scotland? Read our new article at the link in replies
Tabloids have been running the same headline for decades. Apparently Christmas 'cancelled' because of 'PC gone mad', 'because of bleeding heart liberals', 'because of woke' 😴😴😴 Except is isn't. It wasn't true in the 1990s and it isn't true now. leftfootforward.org/2024/12/christ…
