COVID is making me feel really down this holiday season. I miss spending this time with family and friends but know it is not responsible to do so....its even more frustrating when you see other people just doing whatever they want anyway 😣
Don’t know who needs to hear this but: Your mental and physical health are FAR more important than any research project, publication, class assignment, meeting or teaching responsibility in grad school. YOU as a person are what matters.
Whenever someone’s excuse for treating a grad student poorly is, “well, that’s just academia for you” I want to scream. NO. It’s not how academia has to be or should be! WE have to challenge the toxic cycle and promote a better, more supportive academic environment.
