The Holocaust is unique in being taken seriously as a genocide on a retroactively white people by white people. I don't feel comfortable addressing the issue of Jews' historical race but white supremacy has a dominating role in why/how we talk about the Holocaust. (2/x)

Every seriously disturbing photograph of a dead child I see—there have been dozens now—I think of the person who had to find that body, who probably knew and loved that child, who took and shared the photograph to show the world the hell we created, to share their rage and grief.
