This past Friday, 10/29, the #FDA approved emergency #COVID-19 vaccines for children between the ages of 5 and 11. Later this week, the #CDC should either final approval or rejection.
Israeli pharmaceutical company, #Oramed has developed a #COVID-19 vaccine in the form of a pill called #Oravax. The pill, effective as a single-dose vaccine or booster dose, has been approved for trials in South Africa. After 3 phases, Oravax will be available for emergency use.
The #FDA is expected to approve emergency #COVID-19 #vaccinations for children between the ages of 5 and 11 this Friday, October 29. If the #CDC gives final approval, children will start receiving vaccines sooner than expected.
Last week, we reported on a new COVID-19 subvariant discovered in the UK. Unfortunately, the variant, known as AY.4.2., has already been detected in some US cities. Experts believe that the new variant could be 15% more contagious than the original delta variant.
In the UK, there's been a minor but noticeable outbreak of a new #COVID-19 subvariant. US health officials are analyzing the transmission of the subvariant to prevent potential outbreaks in America. We will continue to provide updates if new cases arise around the world.
A new study in Israel has found Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine to be 90% effective in preventing adolescents between the ages of 12 and 18 from catching the virus, after two doses. The FDA will be providing data on the effectiveness of the vaccine for young children later this month.
Earlier this year, the #CDC approved #COVID-19 booster shots for high-risk individuals with weak immune systems. Soon, the US may authorize boosters for all available vaccines.
