I don't think harassing the believers is productive and if my tweets ever stray into being mean-spirited, please give me a nudge. This is all meant to be in good fun.
In response to a long rant somebody posted in an IBWO group about how it would be impossible to mistake a pileated woodpecker for an ivorybill, people are commenting their stories about bird mis-ID. This is my favorite.
He was a leading tantric sex guru. Then he joined the woodpecker hunt Mark Michaels has been looking for the ivory-billed woodpecker, a bird whose existence has bitterly divided the ornithology world, for decades thetimes.com/world/us-world…
Interesting post from the IBWO lies and fabrications Facebook page, who probably got it from Dwight Norris’ page. Apparently Latta & co chased the IB’s out of their sighting areas..
According to this definition from @dropout the ivory-billed woodpecker is technically a cryptid
Have we considered that maybe Ivory Billed Woodpeckers are just naturally low resolution? Like just a blob of pixels flying through the forest? Terrifying if true.
Some new photos that Matt Courtman says are definitive for IBWO.

Ivory-billed woodpecker mention in the new Netflix movie Hit Man.
Hell yeah, that's good shit 😂 I'm obsessed with this graphic in Fred's OP too because only 1 of the 4 data points he is using to establish a baseline for IBWO flap rates is from a video that's actually confirmed to be an IBWO.
Interesting argument over wing flapping between Fred and Don Scheifler over on Fred's facebook site: facebook.com/photo?fbid=180…
Building collisions kill millions of birds—like this Blackpoll Warbler—each year. Many of these deaths can be prevented. Urge your members of Congress to support the Bird-Safe Buildings Act—a bipartisan, common-sense solution to prevent bird collisions. bit.ly/42NS4qF
This has been a deeply sad day for all of us at the Wild Bird Fund. We hoped only to see Flaco hooting wildly from the top of our local water tower, never in the clinic. We are grateful to all who contacted us today and all who helped with his rescue. newsroom.wcs.org/News-Releases/…
really ? i figured that jason mann guy had seen them in the last few years
A bit of good #ornithology news: The Yellow-crested Helmetshrike, a rare African bird species not seen in 20 years, was recently captured and photographed by researchers in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. newsweek.com/lost-tropical-…
It’s almost like a Eurasian Eagle-Owl should not be flying around NYC. Yet, lots of folks on Twitter thought it should be!! Feeling very very bad for this bird.
