Reeves announces end to two child cap by Easter. Grand - but about time. Means Scotgov gets £200m back into its budget - money it was ready to use to mitigate horrible child-punishing Tory measure in April if Labour bottled it.
I'm glad to see the two child limit and the rape clause scrapped. It shouldn't have taken this long, and should never have been introduced. What a shame @torcuil didn't have the courage to vote against it last year like the few MPs who did and lost the Labour whip as a result.
The end of the two child benefit cap, reducing child poverty, real Labour values. Hats off, incidentally, to @alisonthewliss , former SNP MP who first spotted the hateful rape clause in George Osborne budget.
The shadow Foreign Secretary here posing for a picture with the man wanted by the International Criminal Court for War Crimes, and calling him a friend. Either you believe in the equal application of international law, or you don't believe in international law at all.
A great meeting with my friend @netanyahu and discussion about how we must stand together to fight for the freedoms and values our countries are founded on. Israel is a beacon of democracy and freedom in the Middle East and our friend and ally. We must never forget the…
Thatcher. 1979.
Why & how is it that in the U.K taxes are UP, costs are UP, but services are down & worse At what point did this disaster start?
Rachel Reeves says she'll give @Scotgov an extra £820million 'because Anas Sarwar asked me to'. Desperate attempt to champion the Scottish Labour leader. Money actually comes from Barnett formula, which gives Scots a share of the tax cash we send south. It's not largesse.
Do Labour think the people of Scotland have no memory? July 2024: 36 out of 37 Scottish Labour MPs voted against an SNP amendment to the King’s Speech to scrap the two child limit. #StrongerForStarmer
Rachel Reeves confirms the 2 child benefit cap is to be scrapped from April "fully funded". Says 100,000s of children have been pushed into poverty bcs of the policy. "I don't believe children should have to bear the brunt" she says.
The Labour Government has once again shafted Aberdeen & the north east.
MoD reserves the right to pollute the Clyde with plutonium, tritium & other radioactive materials via accidents & maintenace but demands that information is kept secret from the natives #YouYesYet? theferret.scot/radioactive-po…
Who are these pitchfork wielding pearl clutchers in capes
What on earth is going on? Grown adults yelling & shouting outside a primary school & now a nativity play has to be cancelled due to racist abuse? This is utterly disgraceful behaviour. Shame on anyone encouraging it.

People are sick of the determined to be offended gathering their pitchforks in their search to be upset
I can understand why English & British cultured people are sick of things like this. Why is a Christmas play involving Syrian immigrant story lines stuck at a border crossing 😂😂 for Pete’s sake! I spoke to a teacher who told me it’s incredibly hard now… trying to…
Deary me from BBC North North Britain 😀🙄
The BBC in Scotland there apparently unable to find a picture of a Scotland player, so just settling for a picture of England & France players instead. Classic BBC in Scotland trolling Scotland. Again.
Labour's official party political broadcast wasn't broadcast in Scotland. We think we know why. This segment wouldn't have gone down well in Grangemouth.
Who paid for your trip to Israel mate?
SNP politicians are unwittingly helping Scotland’s enemies by sharing foreign misinformation. The SNP must be much more alive to this threat and deal with misinformation, including that shared by their own elected officials, much more robustly.
Economically, Scotland has world‑class universities, energy, tourism, food and drink. With the powers of a normal country—tax, trade, migration—an independent Scotland can design an economy that works for its people, not City bankers.
One of the most defining crises that reflects the scale of suffering the Israeli occupation has inflicted on Gaza’s civilian population over the past two years is the flour crisis. This alone, I believe, represents a genocide on its own, regardless of all the massacres and mass…
