The Trump Administration’s strategy gets wrong all we know to be true about Europe—indispensable trade partner, investor in our economy, home to our most important military alliance—NATO, critical partner in deterring Russia and China.
Also the NSS puts this in context. I am pretty certain that @KareemRifai and @RyanFedasiuk got advanced drafts of the NSS and were trying to focus on the first island chain to pitch their ideas. Not going to work because Asia is no longer a core interest.
