For the record, using unwrap is totally fine in situations where you do not reasonably see a way that the program can panic. You should probably make sure to send telemetry to your observability backend on a panic, though. Preferably with the back trace.

last time i used rust was 2 years ago and coming back to it just to try rig, i can tell you people missing out. this actually is a good time to learn rust cuz wtaf, the language is now easier to use and rig is actually delightful to build stuff on
