Good Morning all. #Writer with a love of storytelling and cinema here. “The writer must write what he has to say, not speak it.” - Ernest Hemingway

So I’m making a movie. A documentary about a #CubScout camp called Akelaland that’s closing down this summer. I made a proof of concept for those interested, along with a Kickstarter to help me out with the funding: youtu.be/6rsCoiuTnJg kickstarter.com/projects/sandh…
A short story of mine, a continuation of the fantasy detective story I wrote late last year, was published in #Mirk again earlier this month! Very proud of it and happy to see the final result.
#TheZoneofInterest was an interesting but not all together captivating film really. I get what it’s going for but it just didn’t catch my attention. So without a doubt, best of this year’s BP’s is Poor Things!
#PoorThings was absolutely spectacular. In fact, I think it beats out Oppenheimer for me. Such a captivating, beautiful, and often hilarious film with a career best from Emma Stone. The last film in my marathon will be The Zone of Interest.
#PastLives was no less emotional the second time around. Such a beautifully warm and tender film. Shame it got so few nominations. Greta Lee was absolutely snubbed. Up next: Poor Things!
#Oppenheimer is definitely the best of the BP nominees this year so far. It’s such a existentially terrifying drama, so technically perfectly crafted, with one of the best leading performances of all time. It deserves the sweep it’s gonna get. Up next Past Lives
#Maestro was as boring and mediocre as everyone said it would be. Such a terrible BP pick. Thankfully the next film is how you do biopics right. Oppenheimer!
#KillersOfTheFlowerMoon was just as powerful the second time around as it was the first. Absolutely one of Scorsese’s best films ever and a masterpiece. Up next in the marathon, Maestro.
#TheHoldovers was an incredibly heartwarming and sincere film. Reminded me a lot of Dead Poets Society which is one of my favorite films ever so I was very happy with it. Up next, Killers of the Flower Moon.
#BarbieMovie is still incredibly messy thematically speaking but it’s such a fun film so I enjoyed it still with this rewatch. Deserves all its technical nominations, not much else. Up next in my marathon: The Holdovers
#AnatomyofaFall is definitely one of the best courtroom dramas I’ve ever seen. Fantastic performances, especially from Milo as Daniel. And of course Messi as Snoop. Up next, Barbie.
#AmericanFiction was a hilarious film. Absolutely loved the writing and Wright gave a spectacular performance. Definitely deserving of its Screenplay nod. Up next in my marathon, Anatomy of a Fall.
And it’s time again for my annual Oscar marathon. First up: American Fiction
#Nanowrimo2023 Finished. Kept a steady pace throughout, averaging around 1,700 words a day and broke 50,000 today.
Day 4 of #NaNoWriMo. Barely got it in in time but I managed to get to 6,716 words a few minutes before midnight
Day 3 of #NaNoWriMo. Barely got it in before midnight but I’m up to 5,014 words for today
Day 2 of #NaNoWriMo. Got in 1,668 words. Still going steady which is really just my goal instead of stressing out on getting ahead.
First day of #NaNoWriMo. Got 1,730 words in. A solid start and I know where the story is going from here so it should be smooth sailing for a bit.
My first short story ever to be published is available in this issue! “Murder by the Full Moon”. A low fantasy murder mystery featuring a werewolf detective. Give it (and all the other stories) a read! And thank you @MirkFantasy for accepting my story!
What's better than fantasy fiction? How about free fantasy fiction? The very first issue of our magazine is available now! Can you tell we're excited? inspiringfiction.com/mirk-fantasy
