Alberta’s premier says she’s considering changing the Recall Act amid an effort to ‘overthrow’ her government and because rules are being broken. As Sean Amato reports, some UCP MLAs also claim they’re facing threats and abuse over Bill 2. #ableg edmonton.citynews.ca/video/2025/11/…
Today, The New York Times has published a story eviscerating Danielle Smith and her provincial government's response to the measles crisis in Alberta. Interestingly, Deena Hinshaw is interviewed for what appears to be the first time since she was fired.
“I ask that you please not contact my family” just keeps bouncing around my head. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a specific appeal like that in a resignation statement.
Compared to the previous parliament I’m hearing fewer reports about how so-and-so offended somebody-or-other and more eruptions of chaos like this and I couldn’t be more satisfied.

"When Prophecy Fails … the case was misrepresented. The cult did not persist, proselytize, or reinterpret its failure as a spiritual triumph. Its leader recanted, the group disbanded, and belief dissolved."
The fall of "When prophecies fail": Another social psychology classic turns out to be based on fabrications and lies. In 1954, Dorothy Martin predicted an apocalyptic flood and promised her followers rescue by flying saucers. In “When Prophecy Fails “ (1956), the…
The exit polls were amazing on this. “What do you think of the Democrats?” “They stink.” “Who did you vote for?” “As many Democrats as possible.”
Jay Jones running ahead of Kamala Harris feels almost hilariously crazy and something we should probably unpack because it shows how being a Democrat actually was a benefit more than a hinderance, which goes against the whole "the party brand is toxic everywhere right now"
The NDP is the party most insistant on disallowing an MP to cross the floor because they are in favour of proportional representation, which is based on voting for parties. If ppl vote for party, then it follows that an MP is elected to represent that party and can't cross floor.

Apple patents new AirPods case with interactive display.
No one who opposes floor crossing on principle has ever been able to satisfactorily address this problem. Parties already hold too much power over MPs. The absolute last thing we need to be doing is giving them more cudgels to wield.
If an MP's crossing the floor meant they lost their seat, then a caucus wld be able to cause an MP seat to be vacated just by kicking them out of caucus. Wld we want that? An MP is elected to use their best judgmt on behalf of their riding. That may mean crossing the floor.
Shut down the PBO. Give the money to parliamentarians so they can do the job they were elected to do.
The 10 year actually *fell* a couple bps when the budget went public. So, yeah, the PBO was completely out to lunch here.

The province of BC and multiple First Nations were opposed to TMX.
Anyone wondering about the prospects of an oil pipeline to the northcoast - well, here you go. A unified voice between First Nations leaders and the province makes the answer ('no') quite clear. Let's focus on work that unites, and doesn't divide, us. ctvnews.ca/vancouver/poli…
Oil is the most Lovecraftian thing that actually exists. You're telling me that there's a black ichor under the earth, made from the ancient dead, whose burning can realize all the dreams of man but only at the price of slowly returning the earth to its primordial state?
“It’s not surprising that Conservatives are starting to wonder about Poilievre. He’s standing on the edge of the earth. d’Entremont decided he didn’t want to follow him off of it. The survival of his leadership requires nobody else to notice that’s where Poilievre is taking them”
