How did California prepare for the deadly Palisades Fire? My investigation shows in the last two years, CalFire funded just one Palisades brush clearance, leaving the community completely exposed — undermining Newsom's narrative the state is doing its part to reduce fire risk...

Los Angeles's latest Skid Row tower for the homeless is projected to cost $90 million, or $865,656 per apartment ($1,048 per square foot). This tower could cost federal taxpayers ~$200 million over its lifetime via HUD Section 8 project-based vouchers.

My latest: Did you know Los Angeles is building 3 skyscrapers for the homeless, relying on ~$1.2 billion in federal Section 8 vouchers to line developers' pockets and handsomely pay back the city, state, and investors for the projects' $429 million construction cost? Link ⬇️

Santa Monica and San Diego are both supplied by Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, which supplies water for 40 water agencies (19 million residents) and is raising rates 40% to offset water sales declines caused by water conservation. thecentersquare.com/california/art…

America’s largest water district raising rates 40%, says conservation cut revenue

(The Center Square) - America’s largest water district says declining revenues due to increased water conservation are forcing the agency to significantly raise water rates to remain solvent.

See below. In @santamonicacity we are experiencing the same paradox. The city dramatically jacked up water rates to encourage conservation, forcing us to spend a fortune replacing grass with other things. Water usage dropped. Now water dept going broke so raising rates AGAIN!

A review of the funding award reveals a total cost of $1.5 billion for the 2,099 units, or an average build cost of $695K per apartment, $197K of which is taxpayer funding via this grant (not inclusive of the multiple other taxpayer-funded programs usually in the capital stack).

$414 million in @California_HCD funds are headed out the door to create another 2,099 affordable homes. California is outperforming the rest of the country in turning our state's homelessness crisis around — and creating more homes is a key component part of our strategy.
