I've finally created my blue sky profile Can follow me over there if you want bsky.app/profile/kyleon… Or not. I'm not your real dad.

So Affinity's big reveal today - The apps are now combined into one, not three - The app is now free, no feature compromise - If you want AI features there's a subscription tier just for it, but none in the free version - Past owners get premium font pack affinity.studio/get-affinity

Been away from Mac for a long time, but now I'm back. First thing I noticed was... how ridiculously useful the "Font Book" app is. Not only am I installing fonts with it, but I get to preview them with the text Im wanting to use it on? Oh lawd.. I may faint...

It didn’t used to bug me, but now that it happens daily since RTO one of my biggest pet peeves has become people who get on the elevator on a floor before mine, only to get off on another floor before mine

How is canva _this_ bad Save as SVG is a pro feature Save PNG with transparent background is also a PRO FUCKING FEATURE RESIZE IS A PRO FUCKING FEATURE

I actually like developing on windows I know, bizarre as it is for tech twitter to hear.

I switched from Windows to Mac recently. It has 0 developer benefits.

what is with the push from game developers lately to add proximity voice chat to games that children clearly play, and can play with adult strangers

Pretty wild to me that C doesn’t get the love it deserves anymore, being the “jQuery”-ish of its day “write once, compile to any architecture. Stop writing all that platform dependent assembly and get it done right the first time”

Controversial take probably but… I genuinely love this Liquid Glass UI update on my iPhone

So, who owns the monopoly on these "Glowing blob people" visualizations for youtube video essays? Or is everyone just learning blender and following the same tutorials as one big coincidence?

My 12 year old just asked my why GTA6 is such a big deal. I told her that GTA5 released only a couple months after she was born. GTA6 has been in development her entire life and still not out, and wont be until shes a month removed from being an actual teenager #letthatsinkin

I should not and I repeat should NOT need to do the workaround of "Saving the playlist which copies it to my account and then manually sort it the way I want it"

It still boggles my mind that in 2025 playlists can be looped and shuffled but CANT simply be Reversed. Shuffle is in all honesty WAY more complex and also mutates the play order. Reverse is trivial by comparison.

Almost thinking about creating a new Advent of Code harness in prep for this upcoming year The way I’ve been doing them before is pretty counter intuitive

Which I believe Zig is supposed to be that? Or Google’s Carbon? I’m not sure All I know is I’m loving being back with C++ again doing performance focused programming again

Despite all the love and respect I have gained for Java over the past year, I can’t help but feel that C++ is still my favorite overall language. If I could have C++ the language but with Java’s tooling, I think that’d be the perfect programming environment

What I absolutely love about working with Java in today’s age, is I can run and debug it directly off my computer with very little effort, but can deploy with Docker with even less effort and barrier. Never really need to maintain my tiny Dockerfile at any point either lol

DHH just declared Docker is annoying as a dev environment and used AAA game rendering an image in 8ms as a baseline for what's reasonable wait time for things

Something that blows my mind about home stuff A couch goes for on average $1-2k for anything really worthwhile But a toilet, something you barely ever replace but use extremely often, is about $200 Make that make sense. One’s wood, foam, and cloth. One’s shaped porcelain.

I miss when my kids did this haha

Pair programming not as effective as I heard.

Being honest here, I'm not really an activity graph snob on scm things like github and gitlab, but it feels like it criminally undermines the effort that you could push 25 commits worth of stuff and it counts only as "1 activity", on equal measure as 1 comment on a ticket.
