GasBuddy is the authortative voice on fuel prices, and consumers, reporters, and policitians can find not just "average" prices, but individual station prices at gasbuddy.com (data portal: prices.gasbuddy.com). We're a main source for the majority of prices online.
Deleted this tweet. Lowest average price hasn’t hit below $1.99 per gallon for any state. But as several have helpfully pointed out, there are individual gas stations in some states that have gone below $1.99 per gallon, according to GasBuddy.
Adam has absolutely zero idea of the GasBuddy methodology, nor has he reached out to inquire. While we *all* know Costco is membership only, they sell a fierce volume of fuel. GasBuddy does not list "promotional prices", and our data often time comes directly from a retailer.
The White House is citing membership based, promotional prices at gas stations to defend Trump’s claims of cheap gas lol Yeah if you go to the cheapest state, and the membership only pricing, at a gas station running a promo, then prices are down. Great work! 🙄
Context: much of the nation is seeing gas prices below $3/gal, with 40 states at that level, however, only 1 in 5 states (for a total of 10) have averages below $2.50/gal, so most of the country isn't seeing $2.50/gal at this time, and 0.1% of stations are below $2/gal.
