I'm hoping the new CAR focus on Enrichment Opportunities for the Arts will mean schools will manage to book more visits from quality drama & theatre groups & music performances (not just panto or a school concert ) & will use drama to teach @WatertonTrust @Nationaldrama
Our incredible daughter Liz died in the early hours of this morning. She remained determined to the last. Even yesterday she was still making plans. We are so very proud of the kindness, empathy and courage she has shown in the last year. She was not only a phenomenal…

With Oracy back in the curriculum as a focus there will be many IT computer/AI programmes to support vocabulary & assessment - so I hope schools will remember that a key part of Oracy is communicating with real people - Drama provides real life contexts too. @WatertonTrust
My 5th book is venturing into adult fiction, set in the 1980s with some hard-hitting & poignant themes. It’s been a joy to write so far and I’m so passionate about the subject matter. I’m hoping it’ll see the light of day next year 😌

So, this afternoon I got home to find a lovely letter from @northernassist telling me about how they wanted to prosecute me for using the below ticket to travel on the specified route at a peak time. I paid £1.90 less than the fare they say I should have paid. A thread 🧵
Every woman should fear this!
WHY BOTHER USING DRAMA to teach? In a few days this @NationalDrama conference will justify drama as a significant player in educational pedagogy. The strategies need to be shared with teachers who haven't had the opportunity to hear about it. eventbrite.co.uk/e/877238523037…

Mega-thread 1 of 5 I have discovered a lot of things wrong with this country over the past year, five months, three weeks, and four days since my daughter's head teacher, Ruth Perry, took her own life. In order to do this, I am going to have to talk about some difficult things…
Love this!
Here’s one of the most fascinating child development videos I’ve ever shared. As your baby learns language, they begin by approximating the examples you set. After a period of early experimentation with sound (including cries, coos and gurgles), infants begin babbling -…

Teacher retention strategy suggestion. Give teachers who request it a “Glastonbury day”. Makes me sad that no teachers can EVER go ( and was our daughter’s only regret about becoming a teacher)!
Thank you so much to all those who RPosted the info re this very important conference. Drama, like other arts is in crisis in schools & teachers need more opportunities like this to learn ways to use the many powerful learning strategies offered via drama. @Nationaldrama
