Literacy levels are a concern. I like the idea of collaborating on a solution to the problem. Buy in from a student will often result in better performance anyway.
Keynote speaker @#northsouthedtech Neil Butcher says poor literacy level needs to be solved in cooperation with the student. Be honest about the problem and impact on their learning and future. Make them part of the solution.
