Norman residents loved her cookies, and now many are distraught at news "Cookie Cottage" owner Shannon Hanchett died alone in a Cleveland Co. jail cell. She was there for 10 days, arrested during what police call a "mental health episode" at another Norman store. (thread 1/2)
This is truly wild. Senator Thomas Carper bought up to $110k in Ranger Equity Bear Bear ETF, $HDGE, an active ETF that shorts US listed stocks. He sits on the Senate Finance Committee. And as a politician, he is actively shorting the US economy.
My recommendations for the retention elections of appellate court judges on pg. 2 of the Nov. 8 ballot. All hard NO’s except Justice Combs—he’s one of the dwindling few with any moral conscience.
There were 7 mass shootings just last Sunday
Source below. And it doesn’t even include the one in Alabama yesterday. But it does already have one today. Devastating and to me signals that we need much more profound change than legislation alone can accomplish. Deeper change than we typically discuss gunviolencearchive.org/mass-shooting
More sad news for Jefferson County, the only school district in Florida to be privatized. Only 19% of its third graders passed the state's reading test this year — by far the worst in the state. Last year it was 28%, also the worst.

It seems like one useful thing we could do on guns without new legislation is actually punish gun shops that get caught breaking the existing rules. chicago.suntimes.com/2022/4/15/2302…

Can’t cut the grocery tax for working class families, but we can send $75 to millionaires. Oklahoma doing Oklahoma stuff.
(2021) The money Oklahoma saved from sending fewer ppl to prison was supposed to finance county mental health programs. But the #okleg has never sent any money to the fund. With the 2022 session wrapping up, another year has passed without SQ 781 funding. readfrontier.org/stories/after-…
It's on folks! I am running for OK County Assessor. We need an assessor who doesn't just send the tax bill but is a watchdog on our spending. We need to bring the website into the 21st century and provide better tools to people concerned with assessments. nickforok.org
The proposed tax cuts under #HB3350 are unfair to low- and middle-class Oklahomans. Additionally, the state’s structural deficit and historic propensity toward reducing revenue mean that Oklahoma cannot afford the future impact of this tax cut. #okleg bit.ly/3OrzInV

Good. Americans need to have confidence that judges are basing their rulings on law, not their own self-interests. I recently introduced the STOCK Act 2.0, which would require members of the federal judiciary to publicly disclose financial transactions, so this is welcome news.
The federal judiciary's policymaking arm had its biannual meeting today — closed to public and press — and they announced approval of a plan to automate the release of judges' financial disclosures: uscourts.gov/news/2022/03/1…
