When it comes to assessing by unit, pretests, warm-ups, etc, I treated beginning of year the same way I did units thru year #EnvisionEDU
With lower classes, the SPED teacher who co-taught with me knew Ss really well from the previous year and gave background. #EnvisionEDU
A5: Teaching Ms Ss, they're placed based on ability. With my top classes, Math 7+ (formerly Pre-Algebra), we hit ground running #EnvisionEDU
Another I used was a ticket out, a 4-6 question formative assessment given at the end of lesson to let me know what Ss got. #EnvisionEDU
I planned tiered lessons anyway, so there was always the option for differentiation. #EnvisionEDU
A4: I used warmups to review homework & ensure Ss know skill leading into new concept. If Ss miss problems, I'd readjust. #EnvisionEDU
Pre-tests are also valuable tool.This ensured Ss weren't bored w/material they already knew & freed time for enrichment. #EnvisionEDU
A3: When I used clicker feedback was instant & I knew to move on or to reteach. Having a lessons ready either way is key.#Envisionedu
When assessing data is easy, it's year-end test scores, but they don't give full representation of Ss abilities. #EnvisionEDU
