So @metpoliceuk has been running facial recognition trials, with cameras scanning passers-by. A man who covered himself when passing by the cameras was fined £90 for disorderly behaviour and forced to have his picture taken anyway.

Among other things, none of which include encryption being pointless, the hack does show that people are facing real threats to their fundamental rights to privacy and free expression and that spyware is being against people who fight for human rights.
