Seeing @10DowningStreet showing “support” for Ukraine with a facade of lights in Ukrainian flag colours - while the government simultaneously suspends visa applications for Ukrainians fleeing the war - is truly sickening. The sheer, brazen, absolute hypocrisy.

The Home Office needs to ask itself hard questions after today. Doing this on Eid, in the heart of our Muslim community, and in the midst of a serious Covid outbreak was staggeringly irresponsible - but the even deeper problem is an appalling asylum & immigration policy.

People are trying to get food and water to the people being held in the van but @policescotland are refusing. It is clear they do not serve their communities.
Here, @policescotland used a @Scotambservice paramedic as an excuse to get heavy handed with the crowd. People in the crowd were asking for a paramedic to be sent to the immigration van to make sure the guys were okay. There was no way that paramedic was in any danger.

Just left #ReclaimTheseStreets vigil. I went to connect with women in our shared grief but it was ruined by men’s behaviour — the man who occupied stage with megaphone who wouldn’t leave, photographers + cameramen inches away, refusing to stop and chatting through minute silence.

There should be an immediate investigation into the last few days of police decisions over Reclaim the Streets, including what is happening right now, and there should be resignations at the end of it. This is morally unconscionable.
We know it's 'not all men' but we absolutely don't know which men it is.
Keys between fingers, walking in the middle of the road, avoiding gaps in hedges or entrances to alleyways, phone on, headphones out, cross the road, check over your shoulder. We aren't born doing this stuff, we learn over years of watching women's trauma play out #SarahEverard
To the "not all men" crowd. Listen. It is not "all men do". It is "all men can". Think about the difference and stop wheeling this line out like it's an important part of a conversation in which women are trying to articulate the terror of navigating this heinous world.
