Please retweet this: @DCMS is ignorant of singing. The restrictions just imposed after thousands of choirs booked rehearsal spaces make a mockery of this hugely beneficial activity. If people can hug, breathe over eachother in pubs & infect waiters in restaurants why no singing?
Very sad that the percussion will be on synthesisers from now on, it couldn't possibly sound as live and vibrant without Matt @mcdperc_matt. You were another amazing asset to the orchestra, thank you. At least the Phantom will be punting in time!

Beyond tragic. An example of pure greed. Hard to believe that after 33 years in the West End it really required cost-cutting/profit-boosting measures such as this, not to mention no consideration whatsoever for the lives of the now ex-members of the orchestra and their families.
The Phantom of the Opera’s orchestra will be cut in half when the production returns to the West End this summer, reducing its previous 27 players to just 14. It comes despite promises that the original production would be returning bit.ly/3a6PaDo
