Ed Miliband has hiked the Carbon Tax by 70% this year, pushing up your energy bills. Tonight, MPs can vote to axe the Carbon Tax and back our plan to cut electricity bills by 20% INSTANTLY. If Labour truly cared about cutting bills, they’d back it.

We need to tackle the ballooning welfare bill. @KemiBadenoch and the Conservatives want to cut benefits and cut taxes. Keir Starmer and Labour want to increase benefits, scrap the two-child benefit cap and increase taxes on you, to pay for it. Labour are out of their depth.

The ONS says a record four million are now claiming Universal Credit with no requirement to seek work - that’s the equivalent of the entire population of Manchester, Newcastle and Leeds put together. Shocking.

I feel we've not discussed nearly enough Labour MPs' idea that if you put income tax up to facilitate higher spending, that will boost GDP by enough to let you cut income taxes later. Is that seriously where economic debate on the centre-left has got to now?

Once you've reached Fiscal Munchausenism the endgame's really coming into view.

But how much should the few remaining net taxpayers be penalised for other people's choices? Does she ever think about that bit I wonder...

NEW: Rachel Reeves signals she intends to remove the two-child cap *in full* "I don't think a child should be penalised because they're in a bigger family through no fault of their own," she tells BBC.

Economics question. What happens to unemployment if you pay people more not to work, pay people less to work and tax people more for employing other people to work?

Ouch! The headline UK unemployment rate has continued to increase steadily since Labour took power, from 4.2% in the three months to June 2024 to 5.0% in the 3m to September 2025... (1/2)

"Cheap renewables" latest: CfD subsidies are about to hit £2bn for the year. That's £275,000 per hour. On a simple extrapolation we will break the previous annual record (£2.3bn) by the year end.

Labour are going to raise income tax on working people and pensioners, whilst at the same time increasing benefits for those with more than two children. I’m totally against this two-tier society Labour are creating. If you can’t afford more than two kids, don’t have them.

Great post

Ridiculous from the Resolution Foundation. Why should taxpayers fund people on UC to have more children? Responsible adults try to live within their means. The socialists spend other people's money until it runs out.

You think that what the country needs now is more welfare spending? And punishing tax rises imposed on the private sector to pay for it. So sad.

Yet another example of gaslighting from Rachel Reeves... 🙄 Taxes are going up because she has failed to control *day-to-day* spending, such as public sector pay and welfare benefits. The fiscal rules treat *capital* spending very differently.

You're Britain, the Britain of chauffeur driven cars, green rooms, lunches at the Ivy, and dinner parties in Camden is deeply unaffected by migration. You're opinion is void.

Create a hostile environment… is that really the Country you want to live in? Jeez… you are not my Britain …
