I worked for Jensen twice. I admired and trusted him. I consider myself a good teacher but used to attend quarterly meetings just to observe how he talked to try to absorb education techniques. But brilliant business decisions are his best talent. Here he is a quarter…

An awesome move by Microsoft! This 1980 text adventure game series was my first experience with immersion in interactive virtual worlds. I still have memories of being in these places, which is funny because they were only described in text.

Microsoft is making the original Zork I, Zork II, and Zork III games open-source today. Microsoft, Xbox, and Activision have teamed up to preserve the clever Z-Machine engine that powered the Zork games and allow others to learn from it theverge.com/news/824881/zo…

We spend so much time finding a way that AI can be useful to us despite the mistakes it makes, why don't we deal with people the same way?

It’s actually good to fail astronomically at least once in your life. It will humble you, shock your system, and strip away the illusion that everything must always go right. Once you’ve survived something that shakes you to your core, the fear around failing loses its power.

Meta just dropped SAM 3D, but more interestingly, they basically cracked the 3D data bottleneck that's been holding the field back for years. Manually creating or scanning 3D ground truth for the messy real world is basically impossible at scale. But what if you just have…

This was quite literally a memory safe violation. And it was prevented. The alternative would've been massive data leaks, trojans and backdoors hidden for who-knows how long.

a twist is that "figure it out" means uncertainty. and management hates uncertainty. so get used to a bunch of pencil pushers and bean counters hating you

The most important piece of career advice: Be the person who can figure it out. You’ll be given tasks you have no idea how to complete. There's nothing more valuable than someone who can just figure it out. Do some work, ask key questions, get it done. People will fight over you.
