On this day in 1831: 'Scotland's forgotten Einstein', scientist James Clerk Maxwell was born in Edinburgh. Incredibly, Maxwell was nicknamed 'daftie' at school. He produced the world’s first ever colour photograph in 1861 and was a true giant of mathematical physics.
