Including social value within procurement is critical. It shouldn't be dropped. What the MOD is very bad at doing though is evaluating things that don't fit in a spreadsheet, and holding suppliers to account once appointed. Same goes for most of public sector.
Exc: Proposals drawn up to end procurement paralysis, include axing "social value" requirements. Large companies are easily able to "game the system", reducing competition, say critics. And even though the MOD is legally exempted from "social value" scoring, it's got live…

Jeevun and Rachel are right. OBR reporting needs reform. Principle of the OBR is fine, but there needs to be more elasticity.

Ofgem has flunked a chance to cut consumer debt. They ignored the Energy Committee’s recommendation to use £4 billion of excess energy network profits to write off £4 billion of consumer debt, both of which resulted from Putin’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine. Completely inadequate.

I'm the @UKLabour Construction Champion until I die.
My boss @mike_reader is currently away in Belgium on a work trip. Usually when someone is abroad you’d get sent pictures of cool food, arts etc etc. So far his highlights have been scaffolding, wind turbines, and what he described as an A+ tidy construction site 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
