3D-printed model of the Mitochondrial respirasome supercomplex from Tetrahymena made for @A_Amunts. The membrane assembly contains all four respiratory complexes (CI-CIV) and comprises 150 protein chains and 311 lipids. For more info, please visit: youtube.com/watch?v=ch8wyP…
Congratulations to Taiyo Yamomoto, winner of the prize for Best Graduate Student Talk 2025 at the 20th International Xenopus Conference 2025. Molecular Models were delighted to offer one of our models, the DNA double helix (PDB 1BNA) as the prize.
We had a fantastic time at the 20th International #Xenopus Conference at @portsmouthuni Proudly displaying a selection of our colourful molecular models, it was great to meet so many delegates and share ideas.
The ATP synthase from Paracoccus denitrificans. PDB: 5DN6. This 3D printed pice of art was made by @molecmodels I have no words to express how it feels to touch the model we solved a few years ago.
Plasmids are naturally-occurring circular DNA molecules from bacteria. In gene cloning, restriction enzymes are used to cut out a fragment of plasmid. A gene to be studied is then ligated into the plasmid vector. Our 175mm model is based on PDB code: 1BNA tinyurl.com/MM-DNA-Plasmid…
New to our range, the structure of Tobacco mosaic virus (PDB 6SAE), an RNA plant virus with an amazing spiral-shape protein capsid. TMV forms a spiral-shaped cylinder of 2130 subunits that encircles the single-strand RNA genome. The 6.5cm dia. version: tinyurl.com/TMV-by-Molecul…
Based on PDB code 6SAE, this is the structure of tobacco mosaic virus (TMV). TMV forms a spiral-shaped cylinder of 2130 subunits that encircles the single-strand RNA genome. These models of the subunits fit together to show more detail of how a TMV ring starts to form.
The structure of dengue virus (DENV), a member of the RNA flavivirus family is part of a study to help solve the structures of flaviviruses, including new strains of DENV, Zika virus (ZIKV), West Nile virus (WNV) and Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV). Based on PDB code 7KV8.
Personal tribute to David Baker @UWproteindesign. Congratulations... CryoEM structure of designed modular protein oligomer C6-79 (PDB code: 8F6R) #scivis #sciart #molecularart @proteinimaging @dzine_ai behance.net/gallery/210003…
Cool pic of Top7 from announcement - first de novo designed protein!
“I love all the proteins so I don’t want to pick favourites." New chemistry laureate, David Baker, spoke about the technology he developed that creates protein structures at the 2024 #NobelPrize in Chemistry press conference today. Watch in full: bit.ly/4eBoGJp
We're really proud to have had the opportunity to work with Pernilla @PernillaWittung and use 3D printing to bring to life the beautiful and important world of protein structures! #proteins #Chemistry #NobelPrize #NobelPrize2024 #Science #modelmaking #3Dprinting
My new toy Top7 was very helpful today when we announced the chemistry Nobel prize!
Thanks, these amazing spikes were made by Darren @molecmodels and we found the full virus model on @thingiverse!
Congrats to Dr. Jason McLellan, @McLellan_Lab, recipient of the 2024 "Building the Foundation Award," supported by @JNJNews! Dr. McLellan and his lab developed technologies leading to the 1st FDA-approved vaccine for #RSV. ow.ly/bPsG50QqtTb #RAAwards
