The best way to have a long teaching career is to make peace as soon as you can with the fact that you’ll never get everything done and some things will just get left. Which is ridiculous when you think about it, but true.
So fun watching @PNaanou and Ms. Johnson’s Algebra 2 students work through a factoring string yesterday! Student discussions were rich and meaningful @FallsChurchHS @MathematicsFcps #buildingthinkingclassrooms #weareFC
Top 2️⃣0️⃣! #VirginiaTech has been ranked as one of the top public universities nationally, receiving high marks in the areas of engineering, computer science, & innovation, in the latest U.S. News & World Report 2022-23 Best Colleges report. 👏 brnw.ch/21wCH8m
First day of school and my classroom “roommate” @msgraymathclass and I did two different tasks in our Algebra 2 classes today and I loved getting to see her students and then mine. #buildingthinkingclassrooms #FirstDayFairfax #weareFC @FallsChurchHS @MathematicsFcps
Teachers Aren't Burnt Out. They Are Being Set Up to Fail edweek.org/teaching-learn…
Virginia Tech has an ELITE women’s basketball team that is getting BETTER game by game. I love the support they receive don’t get me wrong, but I want more. There shouldn’t be an empty seat in Cassell Coliseum. These ladies DESERVE IT. They do it on both ends!
This.
The constant lowering of standards to teach is such a slap to those who went to school, professionally trained, earned a degree & have made it our life’s work. As this trend continues, the public will continue to lose respect for us & not view us as professionals. So demoralizing.
I’m seeing a growing number of students complain: “My grade doesn’t reflect the effort I put into the course.” Public service announcement: You don’t get an A for effort. You earn it for excellence. Success is measured by the level of mastery you show, not how hard you work.
Beyond proud of my double block Algebra 2 IB Apps students who productively struggled through unfamiliar factoring jigsaw problems, then shared what they learned with their classmates. They inspire me with their collaboration, critical thinking, and risk taking🥹 @AnnandaleAtoms
