This is a major milestone for the diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer’s. The ptau-217 blood test is shown to be as accurate as CSF and PET, making diagnosis far more accessible. And detecting AD before observable symptoms will enable much earlier intervention.

In a just published article in #NatureComms, we report droplet formation by an RG-rich fragment of coilin, a protein acting as the scaffold of Cajal bodies (CBs). CBs are highly dynamic nuclear bodies with rapid component exchange, supporting RNA splicing. link.springer.com/article/10.103…

Congratulations Samrat!
I'm honored and humbled to be awarded the JC Bose Fellowship which will allow us to diversify and venture into the unchartered territory of condensate biology. I'm incredibly grateful to my institute, students, colleagues, well-wishers, and my family for their unwavering support.
Dear international students and talents from around the world, note that German universities welcome foreign students, are tuition free and many subjects are taught in English. Germany has become an open and liberal society in contrast to what the UK government is implementing.
From today, the majority of foreign university students cannot bring family members to the UK. In 2024, we’re already delivering for the British people.

Good point. We see (i) that GSK3b phosphorylation accelerates aging of tau condensates and (ii) fibrils of unphosphorylated tau have a different morphology, suggesting that the GSK3b phosphorylation is critical.
This sounds very cool! How do you determine whether its the phase separation or the phosphorylation that enhances aggregation and dictates folding pathway?

Acetylation fuels aggregation of three-repeat tau yet slows that of four-repeat tau. Why? Acetylated lysines in a segment unique to 4R tau disrupt fibril cores. @DZNE_en ow.ly/bbRK50PUbkb
