Thoughts and concerns about NHS from a non-clinical perspective.

Thinking of leaving Twitter as my notifications and recommendations increasingly become far right and conspiratorial. Are there any NHS or #MedTwitter people on Threads worth following?

If you see this guy on TV later trying to justify why NHS staff don’t deserve a decent pay rise, I want you to remind yourself that he owns 9 separate homes.

I don't think the leader of the Conservative Party is in any place to accuse other people of being bullies

3️⃣ Today’s offer is final. There will be no more talks on pay. This country will not be bullied into higher taxes or higher borrowing to fund unrealistic pay demands, risking higher inflation.

BBC neglecting to mention that pay rise will have to come from existing budgets... Intentional or oversight, you decide

We have had our media coming to cover the strikes cancel tomorrow due to The Sun story. Not content with messing up a man's life, they have also managed to divert any attention from issues with the NHS

I'll be first to say it but #MedThreads sounds a lot better than #MedTwitter

Limiting how many tweets I can see per day is probably the best intervention for my health and wellbeing that anyone has ever made. Thanks Elon!

Important: from Monday our hospital will be enacting significant changes to visitor rules. All visitors must- Sorry, you have reached your 6000th tweet of the day. Please pay £8 to continue to read this message.

To be honest, we were all expecting the NHS Workforce Plan to be a mess. What we're waiting for now is whether Labour will call out the erosion in clinical standards and safety, or whether both parties are complicit in the decline of the NHS

The #NHSWorkforcePlan appears purely to generate positive headlines amongst public and not fix any of the issues. "Look over there at the tens of thousands new clinical staff, pay no attention to the decline in standards and patient safety"

The NHS Workforce Plan seems to be trying to fix a leaky bucket by pouring more water in than repairing the leaks.

Add 'Am I alone in thinking...' to 'this might be controversial to say...' and 'I'm not racist but...' as sentences that precede disaster

Am I alone in thinking it is wrong for consultants to strike? Nurses, paramedics, junior doctors, yes, they are just ‘workers’ but consultants are senior leaders, just like senior managers. They demean themselves by striking.

I know it is unpopular with public who don't like to see their taxes go to non-clinical staff but NHS desperately needs more admin. You have projects stalled because there are 3 procurement staff. Job candidates waiting months to start because we have 2 people in recruitment.

This is literally why it’s my job to get the junior’s access to the share drive and spending weeks trying to figure out who is rotating next 😵‍💫 It’s not efficiency - it’s poor support and poor use of Consultant time

So the government's long-awaited NHS Workforce Plan is that it is easier to throw more people at the meat grinder than fix the underlying retention problems.

I've always thought if you want to know how good/bad a trust is to work for then look at turnover in corporate teams. It is much easier for us to leave and find jobs elsewhere. If we're leaving a trust in droves then probably has a toxic environment for clinical/medical staff.

Your reminder that doctors are uniquely trapped via rotational training & NHS monopsony to be fed into the machine to keep it running. Other professions can leave and apply elsewhere if they're treated badly, and have to be attracted.
