But the 📽️ does include the hastily organised 'group' meeting with whoever was in the office that day (thanks to the extras!), an impromptu visit to the @metoffice Chief Forecaster's office because of it's visual appeal, and lots of b-roll of me walking through doors 😬☺️

Proud of @polar_james! (Even if the audio section about his supportive family was left on the cutting room floor (due to not wanting to share pics of our kids publicly). The irony, for a visual/media scholar 😂)

As a PhD student, I got to sit in the cockpit for this landing. Amazing! I've shown the photos to many school classes (and a WI group) since. Wishing I'd taken a video now ;-)!

Here in all its glory is my copilot landing at Rothera airport in Antarctica, courtesy of Santiago hotel wifi 🙂 We saw some incredible things, but this experience was the highlight of my trip and will stay with me forever. Enjoy !

Amundsen had sled dogs! But, I admit, Dartmoor is hardly the Antarctic 🇦🇶

Polar scientist @polar_james had his own Amundsen mini-adventure to the top of Dartmoor yesterday! Completely frozen in, schools opening late today etc. Hoping it clears so the E&S group @ExeterGeography can travel safe here for our Xmas get-together/Dartmoor walk on Wednesday.

Q&A: How do climate models work? | @hausfath @rtmcswee #archive Read here: bit.ly/3mEf6KH

Hi @markrossengland. Agree, this raises questions about the tropical impacts. But a southward jet shift is robustly seen in @PAMIP_news atmospheric model experiments, which are not subject to the problems you identify. You're not suggesting this is spurious, are you?

Why does this matter? Previous coupled modelling studies have indicated substantial climate impacts of polar sea ice loss including enhanced polar warming, effects on the midlatitude jet and even tropical impacts so careful interpretation of these results is required 🧐. (7/10)

Important to note that most modelling studies on this topic have used (uncoupled) atmospheric models and there is no suggestion that these underestimate the climate response to sea ice loss. Not a problem with the models, but sensitivity to how you artificially melt ice in model
